Interesting solutions for a modern and functional kitchen

A beautiful and modern kitchen is an incentive for the ladies and gentlemen of the house to prepare meals. Fronts in your favourite colour, pretty handles and ceramic tiles or original lacobel are all elements that give your kitchen interior a lot of charm. However, in order for the kitchen to run smoothly, it must first of all be creatively arranged and every detail planned.

Project that is the basis

The golden rule of kitchen design is to divide the kitchen into five zones arranged in the order of kitchen activities. These zones are: stock, washing, preparation, cooking and storage. Once the foodstuffs are taken out of the fridge or pantry, they are usually washed in the sink and then cut and cooked. It is then a good idea to have the items needed to prepare dishes and serve them close to the sink, worktop and cooker.

Sites for storage never enough

Whether your kitchen is small or large, it is worth making the most of its space to provide storage by ordering customised furniture. Tidiness in the kitchen will not only be ensured by planning the contents of the cupboards and drawers properly, but also by skilfully organising the articles inside them. The roomy Cargo baskets are an ideal solution, as they save a lot of space.

To prevent plates in pull-outs from bumping into each other, they should be placed in special separators. In corner units, pull-out organisers for larger items such as pots, lids, bowls and pans are ideal.

Ideal worktop and lighting

Stone and wooden worktops look great in modern interiors. They are also extremely functional, as you can cut products directly on them. A cheaper solution is a worktop made of good quality plywood. It is then a good idea to place a large wooden board on top of it, which will always be at hand. It is important that it has grooves on its edges so that the juice from fruit and vegetables does not drip onto the worktop. Special attention should be paid to ensure that there is enough free space on the worktop for food preparation. The work surface needs to be adequately illuminated, which is why lighting strips are usually placed at the bottom of wall-mounted furniture.

Comfortable washing dishes, fruit and vegetables

Nowadays, even small kitchens have space planned for a dishwasher. However, this does not mean that the ergonomics of the sink are unimportant. Small designer sinks look attractive, but are often impractical because the water splashes onto the worktop, which then becomes damaged more quickly. It is therefore better to opt for a two-bowl or single-bowl sink with a deep bowl. With this solution, there is space on the sink to hang a matching drainer so that fruit and vegetables can be easily dried after washing.
